La Sigh
My application to join the Gackt online International Fanclub was declined. Which is fine, since I did just click the 'join the community' link, and didn't research the proper application procedure. Despite my sincere admiration of Gackt and his music, and the fact that I really would like to join the fan club, I'm not sure I'm going to pursue it. Having three months of posts regarding Gackt seems a bit silly, especially since I mostly use this account to lurk and read, rather than posting. You'd think proof of not being a troll would be sufficient, which is a whole other post I'll get into in the future. I've never really seen the point in trolling, having dealt with enough of them back in the usenet days. And yes, this is despite my having hung out in alt.tasteless, which was full of professional trolls. They were nice to me, probably because Lenore and I were friends, there were few women in the group, and because I didn't make any claims for being either horribly tough or horribly squeamish. My few posts about revolting things my cats did were received well. But they did troll other groups, and I didn't see the point. If you haven't listened to Gackt, do so. I've loved his song 'Redemption' for years, but honestly thought it was just a fluke, that the Japanese couldn't really rock all -that- hard. He is from Okinawa, but I'm not sure if that means his family is from Japan, and moved to Okinawa, or if he's truly Okinawan. However, the most I listen, the more impressed I am with the man. He's passionate about his music, and really throws all of himself into his songs and performances. The fact that he's incredibly beautiful doesn't hurt, I suppose, but beautiful men tend to repel rather than attract me normally. Like tigers, or fire, or any other brilliant, gorgeous thing that is inimical, and would never have sympathy for such as me. Which sounds wangsty, but isn't meant to be. Anyway, I suppose this is a post expressing my admiration for Gackt, but since it's also expressing my disapproval at the, in my opinion, slightly draconian and elitist admittance procedures for the fan club, I doubt I'll get in at all. Still, should any of you read this, I really would like to know why you feel such stringent measures are required. |

Book excerpt
This is from Aulayan's journal: 1. Grab the nearest book. 2. Open the book to page 123. 3. Find the fifth sentence. 4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions. 5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest. "Katie proposed a bargain. She'd do one hour's cleaning work for the Tynmore's in exchange for a lesson each week. Miss Lizze demurred, claiming her time had more value than Katie's time." Current Mood: groggy |

Ugh. Summer
Summertime... and the living's easy.... So they tell me. Frankly, I loathe hot weather, and the Midwest is very hot and muggy in the summer. I like going to the swimming pool, but with my hours, I rarely get to, unless I wish to go without sleep. I wish the farmer's market could be held in the spring or fall, but at least it's early enough that it's not so bad. I wish I could just spend the next three months curled up in a room with air conditioning and an internet connection. |

Why?
There's a very specific reason my username is Sometimes Kate. If you know your literature, you will be able to figure it out. If you do, let me know. |
